About our team

A.Blanton Massey, J.D., LL.M.

Mediator

Blanton’s 25 years’ experience mediating and finding acceptable and often creative solutions in well over a thousand divorce cases will help you and your spouse stay in control of decisions, keep the discussions civil, share all pertinent financial data, and explore the effects of various options, thus reducing the time, expense and frustration typically experienced when you turn over control to lawyers and the adversarial legal system.

The focus is on creating a new co-parenting model of two homes, where the effects of the separation on the children are minimized and they aren’t caught in the middle between opposing sides.

Blanton found his calling, his niche, mediating divorce, custody and small business split-ups. He uses his intuition, perception, critical-thinking and people skills helping parties listen to each other, focus on their real interests and needs and create unique, acceptable solutions that aren’t limited by divorce laws.

He received his JD from UVA & his LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown Law School. He has over 1,000 hours of education and training in family law, psychology, mediation, arbitration & negotiation and has mediated more than 1,000 cases, including divorce, custody and family-business matters.

He is an Advanced Practitioner in the Association for Professional Family Mediators, has served as a Consultant with the Academy of Family Mediators and is a Mentor with the Va. Supreme Court’s Dept. of Dispute Resolution. He completed the College for Financial Planning’s prerequisites for becoming a Certified Financial Planner®, and previously held that designation.

As a member of our team, his extensive training and experience as a mediator, financial planner and divorce and custody litigator, assure our clients that all aspects of their separation and divorce can be covered.
